Steps Along Our Organic Path...

1

Inspiration Strikes

Yarn Vibes Organic has been created by Joan Lucey, a shopkeeper turned organic wool producer from County Cork, who has a passion for supporting rural Ireland and sustainability. On this journey, Joan set about meeting amazing creators, all equally passionate about organic Irish yarn.

2

Happy Sheep

Our organic fleece is sourced from Fergal, a 9th generation farmer, who rears sheep on his organic farm in County Kildare. The care and well-being of his flock is of utmost importance to Fergal, and we firmly believe that happy sheep make for a happy knitting experience.

3

Spinning Yarns

After a gentle wash at Standard Wool, the fleece is sent off to Chris in Donegal Yarns where it is spun by Pauric and his team. What begins in Donegal as raw, cleaned fleece leaves as traditionally spun, rustic yarn ready to be dyed by Jennifer in County Clare.

4

Colors from Nature

Jennifer is the only hand-dyer in Ireland who uses organic plants to create beautiful shades through her natural dying process. She harvests all of her water from the plentiful rainfall in the west of Ireland making as little impact as possible on the environment.

5

A Yarn Like No Other...

Yarn Vibes Organic grew from a desire to support Irish farmers and bolster the Irish wool industry. We are incredibly proud that our knitting yarn is authentically Irish, and the first Irish organic wool in the world. What started as a small concept has now become a supportive community working towards a more fair and sustainable future, one strand at a time.

The Organic Natural Dying Process

Our unique natural dying process uses 100% organic plants including sage, elderflower, hibiscus and indigo to create the stunning shade range you see in Yarn Vibes Organic. The incredibly talented Jennifer will be growing her own organic plants over the next year that she can then harvest to use to dye our organic wool.

The entire process is very eco-friendly as no harsh chemicals are used in the dyeing process , and Jennifer and her husband Tristan collect and reuse all of the water needed from the plentiful Irish rainfall.

Yarn Vibes and Jennifer are excited to be introducing organic cochineal to the collection soon, meaning we can broaden our colour palette to include deep reds while maintaining our commitment to a 100% organic process.
